There has been some interesting research carried out recently into the likelihood of second marriages proving more successful than first marriages. Is it a case of just liking wedding cake, or do those of us who try again have more chance of success the second time around?
Interestingly, second marriages are more likely to succeed than first marriages, and there appear to be a number of theories as to why. Of course, those who are on second marriages will have a particular expertise in this area, but theories range from partners having more time, more money, better job security, fewer young children, to having more wisdom and a more long term perspective.
Of course, second marriages do bring their own issues, and there are undoubtedly complications of a more fragmented family with step children to consider, as well as the possibility that there are financial complications arising from the first divorce.
it does seem however, that people who marry for a second time are less inclined to “sweat the small stuff” and to see when things are going off track at an early stage which might be the real reason behind this encouraging statistic.
